The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) plans to launch a full-scale competition for a major follow-on contract supporting essential tactical communications systems for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). This crucial effort, known as the ICE TacCom Recompete, presents an opportunity valued at over $100 million for industry partners. The successful bidder will replace incumbent contractor CACI International, whose current award for these services expires in March 2026.
Sustaining Mission-Critical Communications
This contract directly ensures the continuity and modernization of ICE’s tactical wireless communications network. Reliable communication is vital for field operations, mission coordination, and secure access to critical intelligence and logistics data across the agency. The scope of work involves the entire system lifecycle, preventing operational gaps as the current award concludes.
Key Areas of Support
The impending contract covers a broad range of technical and operational requirements. The key areas of support include:
- Operations and Maintenance: Teams will provide development, modernization, implementation, testing, and ongoing maintenance support for the core network.
- Technical and Engineering: The work requires specialized services, including project management, field assessments, site surveys, and advanced spectrum management to optimize system performance and reliability.
- Equipment Support: Contractors will facilitate mobile radio installation, system updates, and comprehensive asset tracking for subscriber equipment.
DHS anticipates releasing the solicitation for this critical effort by the end of January 2026. The department expects to make the final award in the third quarter of fiscal year 2026, securing these essential services through March 2030.
