Orbit Fab officially named Kevin Smith as the new Orbit Fab CTO, charging him with leading the company’s mission to commercialize satellite refueling and space mobility. Smith previously served as Orbit Fab’s chief engineer, where he successfully focused the team on qualifying critical technology, including the Rapidly Attachable Fluid Transfer Interface (RAFTI) and the Grappling and Resupply Interface for Products (GRIP).
Bringing over a decade of expertise in propulsion, engineering, and systems, Smith now plans to accelerate the deployment of the company’s refueling interfaces across the spacecraft industry. He will work to make in-space satellite refueling a common operational reality.
Before joining Orbit Fab, Smith served as a senior propulsion engineer at Astrobotic and spent over five years advancing space propulsion and systems engineering at Moog Space and Defense Group. Smith earned his master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology.
Orbit Fab CTO Smith’s appointment signals the company’s commitment to scaling its infrastructure and making on-orbit propellant transfer routine.
