Accenture Federal Services (AFS) secured a crucial $7.7 million contract to spearhead systems integration for the VA EHR Modernization effort within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The award directs AFS to provide comprehensive support to the VA Electronic Health Record Modernization Integration Office as it pushes the massive, nationwide transformation forward.
This critical work reinforces the VA’s commitment to delivering seamless, modern healthcare to Veterans by deploying a unified Federal Electronic Health Record (EHR) system developed by Oracle Health.
Optimizing System Performance and Interoperability
The VA’s Technology Acquisition Center awarded the delivery order under the General Services Administration’s Alliant II contract vehicle. AFS now actively helps the VA deploy the new federal EHR system.
The core objectives of the contract focus on strengthening interoperability, ensuring consistent system performance, and significantly improving user adoption across the VA’s expansive health network. AFS will execute program management, technical and functional support, and essential data integration services across 164 planned EHR site migrations.
Enhancing Federal Health Records through 2031
The integration effort extends through 2031 and encompasses vital areas such as risk management, configuration control, and quality assurance, which ensure the modernization efforts align with clinical and governance objectives. Furthermore, AFS supports the coordination between the VA and the Department of Defense (DoD) to enhance interoperability within the federal EHR ecosystem.
This crucial interoperability ensures clinicians can access a Veteran’s complete medical history, streamlining care from active duty to post-service life. Successful completion of the VA EHR Modernization is paramount to providing high-quality, efficient care nationwide. The contract establishes a critical pathway for the VA to successfully execute the ambitious VA EHR Modernization initiative.
