Pratt & Whitney secured a massive $1.09 billion requirements contract from the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Aviation to ensure continued support for the fighter fleet’s propulsion systems. This critical award immediately drives F100 engine sustainment for the U.S. Air Force and allied forces globally.
As the original equipment manufacturer (OEM), Pratt & Whitney will supply consumable and depot-level repairable parts, alongside comprehensive program management services.
The F100 afterburning turbofan engine currently powers the legendary F-15 Eagle and the agile F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft, which are core components of global air power. This sole-source acquisition, awarded by DLA Weapons Support in Philadelphia, establishes a vital, long-term supply chain. The contract features a five-year base period and includes a five-year option, potentially extending this essential F100 engine sustainment work through 2035.
The substantial investment strengthens the readiness and operational availability of the aircraft that rely on the robust F100 engine family, a system that has accumulated more than 30 million total flight hours worldwide.
Pratt & Whitney’s role guarantees the crucial logistical support and technical expertise needed to maintain the reliability of these high-performance turbofan engines. The massive award reinforces the company’s position as a dedicated partner in U.S. and international defense readiness, securing critical F100 engine sustainment services for years to come.
