BAE Systems Inc. names Anjali Chaturvedi its new Vice President and Chief Ethics Officer. Chaturvedi now assumes responsibility for overseeing the U.S. subsidiary’s comprehensive strategy and execution of its crucial Government Contracting Ethics program. She immediately joins the senior leadership team and reports directly to the general counsel, underscoring the critical nature of this position within the organization. With over three decades of distinguished professional experience across the legal, investigative, and compliance sectors, Chaturvedi brings unparalleled expertise to the defense contractor.
Spearheading Integrity and Compliance
As the Chief Ethics Officer, Chaturvedi actively spearheads the entire ethics and compliance framework for BAE Systems’ expansive U.S. operations. Her primary mandate centers on proactively maintaining the company’s highest standards of integrity, ensuring strict adherence to complex federal regulations, and fostering an ethical corporate culture.
This strategic focus ensures that the company effectively navigates the highly scrutinized and constantly evolving landscape of defense contracting. Before this promotion, Chaturvedi served the company as Vice President and Associate General Counsel, where she managed significant litigation and complex internal investigations. She gained crucial insight into the necessary diligence required for robust Government Contracting Ethics within the industry.
A Career Spanning Justice and Industry
Chaturvedi’s appointment capitalizes on a career distinguished by leadership in both the public and private sectors. She previously held the influential position of Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the Criminal Division of the Department of Justice (DOJ), where she directed crucial federal enforcement efforts and policy. This experience provides a deep understanding of government expectations and legal risk.
Furthermore, she gained senior leadership experience in compliance at major corporations, including defense industry giant Northrop Grumman and energy leader BP. Chaturvedi also excelled in private practice as a partner at the firm Nixon Peabody. Early in her tenure, she served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in federal districts across Washington, D.C., and Northern California, establishing a strong foundation in prosecutorial and administrative law.
She also contributed significantly to legislative policy, serving as counsel to the late Senator Dianne Feinstein on the Senate Judiciary Committee. Chaturvedi’s broad and influential background, including academic roles as an adjunct professor at reputable institutions, positions her uniquely to champion excellence in Government Contracting Ethics and regulatory compliance.
