Arcfield officially appointed Gregg Burgess as the new President and General Manager of its wholly-owned subsidiary, Orion Space Solutions. This strategic leadership move positions the space mission and data intelligence unit for accelerated growth, leveraging Burgess’s deep expertise in government and national security space operations.
A Veteran Leader Joins the Arcfield Family
Gregg Burgess brings over 25 years of extensive experience across the aerospace and defense sectors. He now directs Orion’s daily operations, shapes its future growth strategy, and guides a team of nearly 100 dedicated scientists and engineers focused on delivering advanced space systems architecture and mission support services to key government clients.
Arcfield Chairman and CEO Kevin Kelly welcomed Burgess, noting that his specialized background in program management, space systems architecture design, and national security, science, and weather mission operations makes him the ideal fit to steer Orion’s future direction.
Proven Leadership in National Security Space
Prior to accepting this appointment, Burgess served as Vice President and General Manager of the Space Systems Division at General Atomics Electromagnetics Systems Group. His distinguished career history also includes prominent leadership positions as Chief Technology Officer and Vice President at SNC and Senior Vice President and General Manager of national security space at Orbital Sciences Corp. Burgess prepared for these technical and leadership roles by earning a bachelor’s and master’s degree in aeronautical and astronautical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Burgess succeeds Chad Fish, who transitions into the crucial role of Vice President of Strategy and Chief Technology Officer for Orion. In his new position, Fish will focus on shaping long-term planning, advancing technical innovation, and supporting the organization’s mission partners.
