The U.S. Army recently solidified a major partnership with Raytheon, an RTX business, through a new $512.2 million ISR Radar Contract. This significant agreement focuses on the development, production, and long-term sustainment of advanced synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and moving target indicator (MTI) technologies.
As a cornerstone of modern Government Contracting, this deal ensures the Army maintains a technological edge in intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions across the globe.
Long-Term Commitment to Advanced Sensing
This cost-plus-fixed-fee and firm-fixed-price ISR Radar Contract carries a performance period extending through December 2036. The Department of Defense confirmed that Raytheon was the sole bidder for the project, reflecting the company’s specialized expertise in high-altitude and long-range sensing.
Under the terms of the agreement, work locations and specific funding allotments will be established at the individual task order level, allowing the Army to remain flexible as mission requirements evolve over the next decade.
Enhancing Multi-Domain Intelligence
The primary objective of this ISR Radar Contract is to support manned aerial platforms with high-resolution imaging and tracking capabilities. The SAR/MTI sensors provided by Raytheon allow operators to detect, locate, and track both stationary and moving ground targets in all weather conditions, day or night. This award aligns with the Army’s broader modernization strategy to build a unified network and enhance its sensing grid for future operations.
Strengthening the Defense Industrial Base
Raytheon’s success in securing this award follows its long history of delivering similar systems, such as the Advanced Synthetic Aperture Radar System (ASARS) used by other service branches.
This latest investment highlights the growing importance of GovCon News updates regarding intelligence and sensing technologies. As the military shifts toward its 2030 objectives, sustained collaboration with industry leaders remains vital for maintaining national security and operational readiness.
