Axiom Space appointed Tracey Davies as its new Axiom Space Chief Legal Officer, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary. Davies steps into her new roles bringing over 25 years of diverse legal and private industry experience to the human spaceflight services provider. She will lead the company’s complex legal affairs as it accelerates its mission to build the world’s first commercial space station.
Extensive Experience in Life Sciences and IP
Davies cultivated extensive expertise managing teams through complex disputes, government investigations, and international legal matters, including mergers and acquisitions (M&A), antitrust, and intellectual property (IP). Before joining the space firm, she served as Senior Vice President and Associate General Counsel at Edwards Lifesciences.
Her previous roles also include Chief Strategic Initiatives and Intellectual Property Officer at the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas. Davies spent a significant portion of her career as a partner, notably at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher and Vinson & Elkins, where she also chaired the global technology, life sciences, and intellectual property practices.
Driving Commercial Space Innovation
Dr. Jonathan Cirtain, CEO and President of Axiom Space, welcomed the new Axiom Space Chief Legal Officer, emphasizing the value her background provides. “Her proven experience in global legal affairs, life sciences, and the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries will further enable Axiom Space to provide an accessible platform for private companies and governments to continue the research and development of breakthrough innovations to advance civilization,” Cirtain said.
Davies’ strategic oversight will support the company’s goal to establish a sustained human presence in space and foster the burgeoning global space economy. The new Axiom Space Chief Legal Officer will play a critical role in navigating the legal landscape as the company develops Axiom Station, the successor to the International Space Station (ISS).
