Battelle President and CEO Lou Von Thaer welcomed the two new members, asserting that their varied and extensive experience will prove invaluable to the company’s vital mission.
Leveraging National Security Expertise
Admiral Faller joins the board after a distinguished military career culminating as Commander of the U.S. Southern Command In this high-level position, he directed military operations across Latin America and the Caribbean. Faller actively shaped national policy during his time as the Senior Military Assistant to the Secretary of Defense and served as Director of Operations at U.S. Central Command. His extensive background in defense, policy formulation, and global military strategy provides Battelle with deep insight crucial for its government and national security contracts.
Bolstering Health and Commercial Insights
Adele Gulfo brings over three decades of commercial and scientific expertise from the pharmaceutical and biopharma sectors. She most recently led the biopharma commercial unit at Sumitomo Pharma America as CEO, where she actively managed a portfolio valued at over $1.2 billion across diverse fields, including oncology, neurology, and rare diseases. Previously, she held key executive and strategic leadership roles at major pharmaceutical companies such as Pfizer and AstraZeneca. Gulfo’s commercial acumen and background in leading large-scale biopharma operations will help Battelle expand its technological applications into the life sciences and commercial markets.
