Northrop Grumman secures a $303.6 million indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract to perform F-16 radar sustainment for eight international partner nations. This significant Foreign Military Sales (FMS) award ensures operational readiness for allied F-16 fleets around the world. The contract underscores the commitment of the United States Air Force to supporting key allies through essential logistics and technical maintenance.
Scope of Work and International Partners
The firm-fixed-price contract, awarded by the Air Force Lifecycle Management Center at Hill Air Force Base, covers the repair and return of critical radar components. The agreement runs through November 2030 and directly supports eight military partners: Bahrain, Bulgaria, Greece, South Korea, Slovakia, Taiwan, Morocco, and Jordan. Northrop Grumman will conduct the necessary work at its facilities in Linthicum Heights, Maryland.
Advanced Technology and Modernization
The Department of Defense selected Northrop Grumman for this sole-source acquisition because the company manufactures the fighter jet’s advanced radar systems. These include the legacy AN/APG-68 radar and the modern AN/APG-83 Scalable Agile Beam Radar (SABR).
The AN/APG-83 Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar provides high-resolution mapping and improved target detection capabilities, supporting the ongoing modernization efforts of several nations, such as Taiwan, Slovakia, and Bahrain, as they upgrade their aircraft to the F-16V Viper configuration. The multi-year contract guarantees these partner nations maintain critical air combat superiority through reliable F-16 radar sustainment services.
