Peraton secured a major $196 million contract to provide the U.S. Army with critical operational and cybersecurity support for its Global Cyber Center (GCC). This award directly advances the Army’s digital modernization initiatives and strengthens the nation’s overall cyber defense posture.
The GCC functions as the Army’s premier cyber operations and security hub, operating 24/7 to coordinate with Regional Cyber Centers, enabling global mission command, and protecting the Army’s vast enterprise networks.
I. Bolstering the Army’s Digital Frontline
The U.S. Army Network Enterprise Technology Command (NETCOM) entrusted Peraton with this essential mission to manage and streamline its defensive cyber operations. This pivotal work ensures the operational readiness of the warfighter by delivering resilient, real-time cyber capabilities.
Peraton’s role includes operating and securing both the classified and unclassified networks—the Secret Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNet) and the Non-classified Internet Protocol Router Network (NIPRNet) environments.
The company must sustain the extensive enterprise-level infrastructure and provide full support for all associated software, hardware, applications, tools, and systems across the entire Department of Defense Information Network (DoDIN).
The complexity of the assignment requires managing and securing one of the world’s largest IT networks, which supports hundreds of thousands of global users and complex systems.
II. Global Reach and Mission Expansion
The contract scope extends beyond continental United States operations, requiring Peraton to maintain key global points of presence. This includes supporting the GCC Point of Presence (PoP) located in Southwest Asia.
This global footprint ensures that the Army maintains continuous operational readiness and allows for necessary mission expansion. The company must also prepare for potential surges in support to meet emerging operational requirements worldwide.
Tom Afferton, president of Peraton’s Cyber Mission Sector, stated that this work focuses on enabling mission readiness and protecting national security. This ongoing partnership highlights the value of industry collaboration in helping the government defend its vital digital assets and ensuring that U.S. military forces remain agile and secure across all domains.
III. Strategic Cybersecurity Support
Peraton brings deep institutional knowledge to the contract, leveraging over a decade of experience supporting Army cyberspace initiatives. The firm has actively partnered with major Army cyber stakeholders, including NETCOM and the U.S. Army Cyber Command (ARCYBER), since 2012.
Through this continued collaboration, the company will play a key role in sustaining and evolving the Army’s digital backbone, ensuring decision dominance in an increasingly complex threat landscape.
